SEPOC 2023

The 15th Seminar on Power Electronics and Control, SEPOC 2023, organized by the Federal University of Santa Maria, Brazil, it will happen in hybrid format on October 22 – 25th, 2023.

The main objective of SEPOC 2023 is to provide interaction among academia and industry to discuss the latest cutting-edge technologies on Power Electronics and Control and their applications. In 2023, the main topic of the seminar will be “Energy Transition: Driving decarbonization through innovative solutions and technologies” applied to Power Electronics and Distributed Generation. The event is open to the national and international community, being a great opportunity for technical discussions and bringing together researchers, engineers, entrepreneurs, and students.

SEPOC 2023 will feature panel and plenary sessions, as well as technical papers presented in hybrid and posters sessions. This year, the conference special topics will cover:

i) The role of power electronics, distributed generation and intelligent electrical networks in decarbonization of the electricity sector.

ii) Power electronics, control and electrical power systems in the context of electric mobility.

The Organizing Committee of SEPOC 2023 invites researchers worldwide to submit full papers written in English concerning their original research work to the Seminar.

The Conference scope covers three special tracks and the following general topics:

  • General Topics:
    • Power electronics – topologies and design;
    • Modeling and control of power electronics;
    • Electrical machines, control and drives;
    • Control theory and applications;
    • Power systems analysis, operation, control and protections;
    • Education and Entrepreneurship in Engineering;
    • Aerospace, Automotive and Telecommunication applications;
    • Intelligent systems and connectivity.
  • Special topics on energy transition:
    • Electrical mobility and infrastructure;
    • Distributed Energy Resources and energy efficiency;
    • Management, policy, and regulatory frameworks;

Call for Papers

SEPOC 2023 brings together academia and industry to discuss cutting-edge technologies in power electronics and control. This year’s theme is “Energy Transition: Driving Decarbonization Through Innovative Solutions and Technologies”, focusing on power electronics and distributed generation. The conference features panel and plenary sessions as well as technical papers presented in hybrid and poster sessions. This year, the conference special topics will cover:

i) The role of power electronics, distributed generation and intelligent electrical networks in decarbonization of the energy sector.

ii) Power electronics, control and electrical power systems in the context of electric mobility.

The Organizing Committee of SEPOC 2023 invites researchers worldwide to submit full papers written in English or Portuguese concerning their original research work to the Seminar.

The Conference scope covers three special tracks and the following general topics:

General Topics:

  • Power electronics – topologies and design;
  • Modeling and control of power electronics;
  • Electrical machines, control and drives;
  • Control theory and applications;
  • Power systems analysis, operation, control and protections;
  • Education and Entrepreneurship in Engineering;
  • Aerospace, Automotive and Telecommunication applications;
  • Intelligent systems and connectivity.

Special topics on energy transition:

  • Electrical mobility and infrastructure;
  • Distributed Energy Resources and energy efficiency;
  • Management, policy, and regulatory frameworks;
Research articles can be written in either Portuguese or English. Papers accepted and presented in Portuguese may be submitted to Manancial (UFSM), while those accepted and presented in English will be submitted to the IEEE Xplore online digital library*. *Authors who wish to publish their paper on IEEE are invited to submit regular papers in English. Additionally, the best papers (up to a maximum of 20%) will be recommended for submission to IEEE IAS journals. In this case, authors may choose to submit the full version of their paper for inclusion in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library, or submit a final abstract that will not be published in the library.

Submission start: May 1st, 2023
Submission deadline: July 16th, 2023
Paper acceptance: September 1st, 2023
Final paper submission: September 20th, 2023
Conference: October 22-25th, 2023

Publication:

  • Accepted and presented papers written in English will be submitted to the IEEE
    Xplore online digital library. Best papers (up to 20%) will be recommended for
    submission to IEEE IAS journals.

  • Accepted and presented papers written in Portuguese will be submitted to
    Manancial (UFSM)

Guidelines for Presentations

Congratulations! You are going to present a paper at SEPOC 2023 in Santa Maria.

The SEPOC committee wishes you good luck with your preparation! Much of the preparatory work will focus on small details. Consequently, do not underestimate the time this will take.

These notes have been written to help you.

 

Author’s Checklist (presentation):

a) At home

  • prepare the presentation according to the suggested model Template presentation;

  • make the presentation preferably in the English language;

  • try out the presentation;

  • be aware that you have a limited time of 15 minutes for your presentation, plus 5 minutes for discussions;

  • send the presentation via form available.

b) 15 minutes before the session

  • go to the presentation room;

  • meet the session chairman and/or the staff;

c) At the session

  • speak slowly and as simply as possible;

  • stick to the time limit;

  • the papers can be presented in Portuguese or English

 

Author’s Checklist (online presentation):

  • Print the poster (presentation in printed poster)

c) At the session

  • Bring your poster ready for presentation.

  • Remain at the presentation location all the time of the section.

Templates

Research articles can be written in Portuguese or English.

Prospective authors are invited to electronically submit full regular papers of their work. The conference will favor original papers, not previously published or copyrighted, which put in evidence partial or complete results on research areas listed in the Call for Papers.
  • Papers should be between four and six pages in PDF format, according to
    the template;
  • Do not include author names, affiliations, and acknowledgments in the first
    version.
  • Research articles written in English could be published in an IEEE
    proceedings volume and will be included in IEEE Xplore, or, an Manancial
    UFSM. High quality papers may be considered for publication in IEEE IAS
    journals, subject to further rounds of review.
  • Research articles written in Portuguese could only be published in an Manancial
    UFSM

A final version of accepted papers must be submitted according to the conference
deadline, in accordance with reviewers’ suggestions. Moreover, in order to be
published in the SEPOC 2023 proceedings, accepted papers must be presented
during the conference and at least one
author must be registered for a Professional Registration.
